Born and raised around the Southern California coast, Captain Patrick Hause has spent most of his life on the water chasing fish from local kelp lines to offshore banks in Baja and beyond. Years of fishing the Pacific shaped both his deep respect for the ocean and his instinct for finding productive water, seasonal movement, and unforgettable days offshore.

With six years of professional experience working aboard respected Southern California charter boats like the Oceanside 95, Patrick built his approach around safety, professionalism, and creating a trip guests genuinely enjoy from start to finish. Whether it’s your first time offshore or you’ve spent years fishing SoCal waters, his goal is simple: run smooth trips, put people on fish, and make sure every guest leaves Pacific Venture with a memorable experience worth coming back for.

How many guests can your boat accommodate?

Pacific Venture operates as a private 6-pack charter, accommodating up to six guests for a comfortable, personalized experience.

Is fishing gear included?

Yes. Your charter includes tackle, bait, ice storage for your catch, fish cleaning, deckhand support, fuel, snacks, coffee, and bottled water. Just bring your fishing license and your sense of adventure.

Do I need a fishing license?

Yes. California fishing licenses are required for all anglers and are not included with your charter booking.

Are your trips family-friendly?

Absolutely. We offer family-friendly trips, including our popular Kids 4-Hour Fishing Charter, and our crew loves helping younger anglers learn the ropes.

Do you offer whale watching?

Yes. We offer private whale watching charters seasonally from January through April, with opportunities to see gray whales, humpbacks, blue whales, dolphins, sea lions, and more.

What if I've never been fishing before?

No experience needed. We welcome anglers of all skill levels, from first-timers to seasoned fishermen. Our crew is happy to help every step of the way.

Does Pacific Venture offer added stability for a smoother ride?

Bluefin Tuna

The most prized catch off Oceanside. Schools arrive from May and peak through October — averaging 50–200 lbs. Timing depends on when the fish move up the line from Mexico.

Offshore · Inshore

Yellowtail

SoCal's favorite fighter. Available spring through fall with the strongest runs in summer. Hard fighters on light tackle — one of the most rewarding catches out of Oceanside.

Best on: 8-hr full day trip

Offshore · Late summer

Mahi Mahi

Vivid colors, acrobatic fights, and excellent eating. They follow warm water currents offshore July through September — one of the most exciting catches of the summer season.

Rockfish

The reliable backbone of any SoCal trip. Season opens April — catches virtually guaranteed on the 5-hr and 8-hr trips. Over 100 species in California waters.

Halibut

A flat-out delicious table fish that fights above its weight. Abundant in spring and fall — a bonus species on inshore trips when the bite is right.

The workhorse of the near-shore kelp beds. Active, plentiful, and fun to catch — great for kids and first-timers. The kids 4-hr trip targets these closer to the harbor.

Species availability varies by season and conditions. Patrick monitors the reports daily and adjusts the plan based on what's actually running — your best bet is always to call ahead and ask what's biting.
